
Welcome to Research, Theories, & Techniques, the first course in the series Fundamentals of School Counseling.
This course provides an introduction to the role of the guidance counselor in American schools, including the evolution of school counseling, and a general overview of the research and theories that have led to contemporary practice.
The course includes an examination of the three areas of focus as defined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA):
- Academic
- Personal Social
- Career post-secondary
The course should take 8-10 hours of study time to complete all assignments and the reflection questions as directed. There are three written assignments including the reflection questions at the end of the course.
