This course examines the tools you will use to deliver digital learning, best practices for teaching and learning online, and a variety of factors in teaching that vary from the traditional classroom approach.
After completing this course, you will be able to do the following:
- Identify different types of ICT and digital tools and understand their application and limitations in a digital learning environment.
- Identify common obstacles faced by educators as they try to implement digital learning for K-12 students.
- Describe the four stages of digital learning capability.
- Describe the five dimensions of ICT integration and use them to assess your digital learning tools and implementation.
- Understand the differences between synchronous and asynchronous learning.
- Describe the relationship between constructivist learning theory and digital learning.
- Recite current legislation defining the goals for the use of technology in teaching and learning.
- Assist students and their families in becoming technologically literate and communicate the importance of involvement to parents.
- Understand the role of the teacher as facilitator, and the importance of entertainment and play in a digital learning environment.
- Promote positive student interactions using digital communication tools.
- Use guiding principles and best practices in the digital delivery of curriculum and supplemental content to improve student academic achievement.
- Use regular monitoring and authentic assessment tools including formative assessments to understand how each student is doing throughout the learning process.
